Plasmons play a key role in linking electronics, optics, nanoscience and information technology, by providing new classes of photonic and electronic devices that control and manipulate light at the nanometer scale, as well as generating, transporting and detecting opto-chemical information in future generations of lab-on-the-chip components.
In this conference, special emphasis will be placed on plasmonic effects in individual and interacting particles, on thin films and stratified media, as well as on apertures and cavities. Of particular practical importance are manufacturing aspects of custom-designed nanostructures to enhance the electromagnetic field and tailor the optical density of states. Analysis will include different emission phenomena such as fluorescence, phosphorescence, and surface enhanced Raman scattering.
